CRUCIFIXION PROPHECIES

 

Ps. 16: 10 Triumph over death. Was not corrupted

Ps. 22: 1 “My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me;. . .”

2 “O my God I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest me not, and in the night season, and am not silent.”

7- 8 “All who see me laugh me to scorn; they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the Lord that He would deliver him; let Him deliver Him; . . .”

 

13 “They gaped upon me with their mouths, like a ravening and roaring lion.”

14 “I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.”

15 “. . . my tongue cleaveth. . .”

16 “. . .they pierced my hands and feet.”

17 “ I may tell all my bones; they look and stare upon me.”

18 “ They part my garments . . .cast lots upon my vesture.”

Ps. 34: 20 “He keepth all his bones; not one of them is broken.” Compare John 19″ 30-36

Ps. 35: 10 Accuses by false witnesses. (?)

:19 “who hated me without cause.” Compare John 16:25.

Ps 41: 9 “Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.” Compare John 13: 18-30

Ps. 69:19, 21 gall to drink; “In my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.” John 19: 28, 29

Isa. 50: 5-6 “The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned backward. I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid no my face from shame and spitting.”

52: 14 “As many were astounded at thee–his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men.”

53: 3 “He is despised and rejected of men. . .”

: 4 “He was numbered with the transgressors.” Mark 15: 27, 28

53: 5 “. . .with His stripes we are healed.”

53: 6 “. . .and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

53: 7 “He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not His mouth.”

53: 8 “He was taken from prison and judgment; and who shall declare His generation? . . .for the transgression of my people was He stricken.”

53: 9 “Made His grave with the wicked,. . .because He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.”

53: 10 “Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him;. . .”

53: 11 “He shall see the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied; by His knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities.”

53: 12 “. . . He hath poured out His soul unto death; and He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”

Zech. 11: 12, 13 “So they weighted from my price thirty pieces of silver. And the lord said unto me, cast it unto the potter; a goodly price that I was priced at of them.” Matt. 27: 3-10

Zech. 12: 10 “They shall look upon me whom they have pierced.” John 19: 34, 37

These prophesies were made by different prophets over a 600 year span and half of these were made 1000 years before Christ was born.  There are over 30 prophecies about the crucifixion of Christ. 

Prophecy–history written in advance

twofold descriptive and predictive. Prophets were “forth-tellers” and “for-tellers” for they had insight and foresight imparted to them by the Holy Spirit.

2/3 of the Scriptures are prophetic either in type, symbol, or direct statement.

½ of them remain to be fulfilled

The ½ that has been fulfilled has been “literally” fulfilled

No prophecy is to be interpreted by itself, but in harmony with the whole body of prediction on any given subject.

The requirements of a genuine prediction

–must have been made known PRIOR to its fulfillment

–must be beyond all human foresight

–must give details

–sufficient time must elapse between publication and fulfillment. The will exclude the prophet himself fulfilling it

–clear and detailed information about the fulfillment
